Welcome to our Resource Provision Unit
At Alexandra Infants’ School, our vision is to create a safe, nurturing and aspirational environment where every child is understood, valued, and empowered to achieve their full potential within our specialist resource provision.
We support 15 pupils whose primary area of need is communication and interaction and who are on the pathway or have a diagnosis of autism. Learning is organised into two classes: Shining Stars and Shooting Stars, supported by teams of three to four staff members. The staff at our school are caring, experienced and committed to meeting the individual needs of every child and to creating positive, engaging and meaningful experiences.
The curriculum is carefully adapted to ensure that it meets each child’s needs, as outlined in their Education, Health and Care Plan. We offer:
-
Small-group and individual sessions
-
Multi-sensory learning
- Communication support using visuals, symbols and other appropriate communication systems
- Intensive Interaction and relationship-based approaches
-
A low-arousal environment to support regulation
-
Opportunities for inclusion within mainstream lessons and whole-school events where appropriate
- Opportunities to develop independence and life skills
-
Carefully planned routines and transitions
-
Access to outdoor learning and structured play opportunities
A placement in our provision is secured through the EHCP process and managed through Stoke-on-Trent’s SEND Local Offer.
Expectations
Please ensure children have safe snacks and a drink each day.
We ask children come to school each day with a coat and sensible shoes as we will go outdoors in most weathers.
